The density of titanium rods is only 4.51g/cm³, which is about 60% of steel, but its specific strength (ratio of strength to density) exceeds that of most alloy steels and aluminum alloys. Taking TC4 titanium rods (Ti-6Al-4V) as an example, its tensile strength can reach 895MPa, which is equivalent to the level of high-strength steel, but the weight is greatly reduced. This characteristic makes it an ideal choice for aerospace components such as aircraft engine compressor blades and rocket fuel tanks. In terms of corrosion resistance, a dense oxide film will form on the surface of titanium rods, which can resist the erosion of seawater, chloride ions and various acid and alkali media. The service life in chemical pumps and valves and seawater desalination equipment can reach more than 10 times that of traditional materials. More noteworthy is that pure titanium (such as TA1, TA2) and some titanium alloys show excellent biological inertness and have almost no rejection reaction with human tissue, which opens up a broad space in the field of medical implants.
